Research Scientist

With a background in research and development, Justine has extensive experience in synthetic organic chemistry. She completed her PhD studies in 2016 as an IRC EMBARK Scholar at Maynooth University followed by an SFI funded postdoctoral researcher role. These research positions centred around the design and development of new synthetic organic methodologies, followed by the purification and structural characterisation of novel families of compounds to explore the relationship between chemical structure and function. Industrial experience was then gained as a Research Chemist in an R&D technology development platform within Henkel, a consumer goods company focused on the manufacture and development of adhesives. Through this role, Justine applied her synthetic chemistry knowledge to create and develop new processes and adhesive chemical formulations while also generating and compiling new company IP literature. Justine joined Aquila Bioscience Ltd. in late 2020 to bring her valuable chemical expertise, gained from academic and industrial roles, to assist the company in the development of current and new medical device protocols and prototypes, while also facilitating grant and IP management and protection.
