ProShield Mask Spray™ converts simple cloth masks into a highly protective face coverings while helping the environment.
Reusable cloth face masks are comfortable to wear but proven to be only 20-40% effective at protecting the wearer against viral infection. ProShield Mask Spray is scientifically developed and offers double masking protection against harmful airborne germs and pathogens to users while increasing the fabric and reusable mask efficacy up to 99%.
Unlike alcohol-based spray disinfectants, ProShield is non-toxic, non-flammable and will not irritate the skin. Currently there is no product with similar properties on the market.
The continued use of disposable masks by the general population creates significant plastic waste and is unsustainable for our planet. In addition, an increasing number of people prefer to wear reusable cloth masks
which are more comfortable and stylish. However, reusable masks provide varying levels of protection and can lead to a false sense of safety among users.
As per the CDC recommendations of double masking or dual face coverings to increase users’ protection against airborne pathogens, this may be an uncomfortable or unsuitable option for many mask wearers. What does the CDC say on Double Masking and Fabric Masks?
“The filtration effectiveness of cloth masks is generally lower than that of medical masks and respirators; however, cloth masks may provide some protection if well designed and used correctly. Multilayer cloth masks, designed to fit around the face and made of water-resistant fabric with a high number of threads and finer weave, may provide reasonable protection. Until a cloth mask design is proven to be equally effective as a medical or N95 mask, wearing cloth masks should not be mandated for healthcare workers. In community settings, however, cloth masks may be used to prevent community spread of infections by sick or asymptomatically infected persons, and the public should be educated about their correct use”. Additional research studies were conducted by the CDC in relation to double masking and the efficacy of this action and concluded: “although use of double masking or knotting and tucking are two of many options that can optimize fit and enhance mask performance for source control and for wearer protection, double masking might impede breathing or obstruct peripheral vision for some wearers, and knotting and tucking can change the shape of the mask such that it no longer covers fully both the nose and the mouth of persons with larger faces”.
